Best Pokemon TCG Pocket Mega Lopunny ex deck guide: Strategy breakdown
All Mega Lopunny ex variants as seen in the game (Image via The Pokemon Company)1) Mega Lopunny ex
- HP: 190
- Move: Rapid Smashers
- Damage: 90x
- Effect: Flip two coins. This attack deals 90 damage for each heads. The opponent’s Active Pokemon becomes Confused
- Energy Cost: 2 Fighting Energy
- Retreat Cost: 1 Energy
Mega Lopunny ex is the deck’s primary win condition. Its move, Rapid Smashers, has the potential to deal big damage numbers, potentially being able to knock out most cards in the game. Even if you flip two tails, the Confusion infliction is guaranteed, rendering opposing Pokemon possibly unable to do any action. Its low retreat cost also allows for flexible positioning when needed.
2) Lucario
- HP: 100
- Ability: Fighting Coach - All attacks from your Fighting Pokemon deal an additional 20 damage to the opponent’s Active Pokemon
- Move: Submarine Blow
- Move Damage: 40
- Move Energy Cost: 2 Fighting Energy
- Retreat Cost: 2 Energy
Lucario, as many Fighting decks, is the backbone of the deck’s damage scaling. While sitting on the Bench, its Fighting Coach increases Mega Lopunny ex’s damage output. Additionally, with two Lucario in play the damage buff stacks.
3) Hitmontop
- HP: 80
- Move: Piercing Spin
- Damage: 20
- Effect: Deals an additional 20 damage to one of your opponent’s Benched Pokemon
- Energy cost: 1 Fighting Energy
- Retreat cost: 2 Energy
Hitmontop's role in the deck is to apply early-game pressure and set up for late-game Cyrus plays. For just one Energy, its Piercing Spin hits both the Active and one selected Benched card. By spreading chip damage early, Hitmontop makes it easier for Mega Lopunny ex to clean up crucial targets later in the game.
