Phillies trade proposal dumps beloved All-Star for $70 million Brewers star

The Philadelphia Phillies failed to reach the World Series after a strong regular season. They could look to shake things up before trying to reach the Fall Classic in 2025. Alec Bohm is "on the trade block," according to ESPN's Jeff Passan, and could be dealt to add a superstar.

FanSided's Eric Cole proposed this trade that sends Bohm to the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for Devin Williams and prospects:

  • Phillies receive: right-handed pitcher Devin Williams and two of third basemen Brock Wilken, right-handed pitcher Bishop Letson or right-handed pitcher Brett Wichrowski
  • Brewers receive: third baseman Alec Bohm

"Bohm's actual trade value is a bit difficult to pin down at the moment. Bohm's numbers the last couple of years have been good, but not great, and with the drop-off in his production in the second half of 2024 combined with his reported maturity issues, he shouldn't going to command a crazy premium," wrote Cole. "However, Bohm is still arbitration eligible and his postseason experience along with his offensive upside still makes him an attractive trade target."

Williams is one of the best closers in Major League Baseball. He is a two-time All-Star and two-time Trevor Hoffman National League Reliever of the Year. He would instantly take over as the Phillies closer. Wilken, Wichrowski and Letson are the Brewers' No. 8, No. 18 and No. 19 prospects according to MLB Pipeline. Any two of those could become part of the Phillies future.

Wilken hit 17 home runs in Double-A last season and could take over at third base soon. MLB Pipeline lists 2025 as the year he could reach the big leagues.
