Phillies' second-ranked prospect to make return from injury

One of the names to watch in the Philadelphia Phillies prospect pipeline for some time has been that of Aidan Miller, a shortstop who was drafted back in the 2023 MLB June Amateur Draft. Since that point, Miller has skyrocketed through Philadelphia’s farm system, making appearances all the way up to the Triple-A level, with this season being touted as one that could’ve potentially seen him break through the Major League threshold.

That excitement would be short-lived when it was announced that Miller would miss some serious time due to a back injury, having not made a single appearance yet this season at any level for Philadelphia.

According to recent reports, the Phillies can start to see one of their top prospects get back on track.

Miller to return to action

As reported by The Athletic’s Matt Gelb, Miller is slated to return to the diamond on Saturday night with Philadelphia’s Single-A affiliate, the Clearwater Threshers, for their match against the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels.

This means that Miller will return to a level of play in which he has flourished throughout his multiple stints there, slashing a career line of .263/.389/.446 with five home runs and 26 RBIs.

It can’t be overstated what this return to action means for the Phillies as an organization, as the 22-year-old is now listed as their second overall prospect, sitting only below Gage Wood, who is currently with the organization’s Double-A affiliate.

Action in Clearwater is slated to get underway on Saturday evening, with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m. EST.
