For an offense with Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper both hitting like MVP-caliber players, and with Brandon Marsh finally breaking out as a star, the Philadelphia Phillies offense has been severely disappointing this season.
The main reason for such disappointment comes from the right-handed hitters, none of whom have played well this season. However, one stands out as clearly being the worst of the bunch.
Adolis Garcia has been terrible this season, and as Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report highlighted, he's the Phillies' biggest problem in 2026. The .413 OPS he's posted this month is a big reason why Garcia is the Phillies' biggest problem right now.
Phillies have a big Adolis Garcia problem
"Nine games into the season, it looked like the Phillies might have scooped up the Adolis Garcia of yore," Miller writes. "... In 47 games since, however, it's readily apparent that is not all what the Phillies signed to replace Nick Castellanos in right field."
Philadelphia signed Garcia to a one-year, $10 million contract to fill in as their right fielder, replacing Nick Castellanos, who the team released and is paying $19.2 million this season to play for the San Diego Padres.
While Garcia has been a solid defender, his offensive woes are a massive issue for the Phillies. In May, Garcia is hitting .129 with a .413 OPS. That's simply not good enough.

In his last 18 games, dating back to May 10, Garcia, in 54 at-bats, has just three hits, good for a .056 batting average and a .262 OPS.
Through April, his .707 OPS was not ideal, but it wasn't bad either. He looked to be a decent outfield option, with room to improve. But, he's since regressed further and is a serious problem for the Phillies.
They're, once again, going to be in the trade market for right-handed hitting outfield help. It's unfortunate, but Garcia has become a huge problem for the Phillies, one that they need to fix, likely through a replacement and not patience.
