On Saturday night, NBA fans will finally get their answer to the question of which team will come out of this powerhouse of a Western Conference: the Oklahoma City Thunder or the San Antonio Spurs.
While the defending champions are looking to become the first team since the 2019 Golden State Warriors to reach back-to-back NBA Finals, the Thunder need to rebound from a rather poor showing in Game 6. During that game, Oklahoma City not only let up a 20-2 run that essentially sealed any hope of preventing a Game 7, but they were held to their lowest-scoring quarter of the season (13 points in the third quarter).
In his first playoff showing, Victor Wembanyama has been nothing short of stellar. The 22-year-old has averaged 23.3 points, 11 rebounds, and a whopping 3.7 blocks through the team's 16 playoff games thus far. While co-star De'Aaron Fox did not put the ball in the hoop until the third quarter of Game 6, when he scored all five of his points, his seven assists and five rebounds proved to be enough to hold San Antonio's ship steady.
Whichever team emerges victorious from Paycom Center on Saturday night will play the New York Knicks in this year's NBA Finals. Rest will be a huge talking point heading into this ultimate series, as New York will enter the 2026 NBA Finals with eight days of rest.
