Philadelphia Eagles make more moves, add familiar face for Vic Fangio

The Eagles are trying to put the finishing touches on their roster for a chance to attempt a repeat. On Monday morning, they added a familiar face for defensive coordinator Vic Fangio: now former Miami Dolphins outside linebacker Jaelan Phillips.

Adam Schefter broke the news with the trade details, saying:

“The Dolphins will receive a 2026 third-round draft pick in the deal, sources told Schefter, while the Eagles hope to boost their struggling pass rush with their third trade in the last week.”

This is a major move for the defending Super Bowl champions. Phillips is a defensive weapon that can be moved around on the field, especially in pass rush situations.

His ability to come at opposing offenses at almost every angle makes this team even scarier as they make the push for the playoffs. Not to mention Phillips had his best year when he played for Fangio, previously notching 6.5 sacks in only eight games before an injury halted his trajectory.

Plus, at such a cheap cost, I’m not sure why other teams that need a pass rusher didn’t take a chance with Phillips. The Eagles are only taking on 500k, and Miami is paying the other 6.04 million.

For the Eagles, they add another chess piece to their formidable defense, and for Miami, this is the first move for the new general manager, Champ Kelly, after they mutually parted ways with their previous manager, Chris Grier.

Be prepared, Dolphins fans, this may be a bumpy ride. Kelly is part of the regime that hired Josh McDaniels, and we all know how that went both times. Don’t be shocked if Miami sells the house and completely overhauls this team going into next year.
