PDC Challenge Tour Update: King claims crown as five more titles won

Former World master and PDC star Mervyn King claimed a first Winmau Challenge Tour on Friday as he and Jamai Van den Herik were victorious Events Eleven & Twelve respectively, as the latest of the PDC’s second tier tour weekends took place at Arena MK, Milton Keynes.  

King, who relinquished his PDC Tour Card back in January, picked up a maiden PDC Challenge Tour title in Event 11, as he reached the final firstly by recording victories against Danny Trueman, Tom Sykes, Mike Warburton, Charlie Martin, Arno Merk, Sam Spivey and Ted Evetts, to set up a clash with Henry Coates.  

The final saw ‘The King’ dominate the entirety of the tie, as he whitewashed his compatriot, 5-0, with winning legs coming in 13,12,18,15 and 16 darts respectively to pick up a first PDC title since 2018 as well as collecting the £2,500 top prize.  

In Event 12, Dutchman Jamai Van den Herik was victorious as he fired in a perfect nine dart leg on route to seven wins, including one against former World champion Richie Burnett, to set up a final encounter with England’s Graham Hall.

The final began with Hall taking the opener before Van den Herik charged in front by rattling off four successive legs to move 4-1 ahead and within one of victory. Hall did pull a leg back, before the Dutch youngster sealed the victory in Leg Seven with a 14 darter to clinch a maiden PDC title.

Danny Van Trijp and Stefan Bellmont were victorious on Saturday, in winning Winmau Challenge Tour Events 13 & 14 respectively.

Former Tour Card Holder, Van Trijp, claimed Event 13 of the 2025 season having reached the final firstly by recording a string of victories to set up a clash with Graham Hall, who had again reached the final match.

Event 14 saw Stefan Bellmont victorious, the Swiss defeated former PDC Tour Card holder Keegan Brown in the final.  

Nothing separated the pair in the opening stages, with five straight holds of throw, ending with Bellmont breaking Brown’s throw in Leg Six with an 18 darter to move 4-2 ahead and within one of victory. 

Brown did pull one leg back, before Bellmont sealed the victory in Leg Eight with a 14 darter to clinch a second Challenge Tour title of the year and a fourth of his PDC career. 

Jack Tweddell was victorious on Sunday, winning his maiden Winmau Challenge Tour title, after defeating Mervyn King in the decider, as the third weekend of the PDC’s second tier tour season ended in Milton Keynes. 

Tweddell, who had returned from seven years away from the sport, had also enjoyed his strongest run within the 2025 Challenge Tour season in Saturday’s Event 14 in which the 30-year-old reached the Semi Finals, he was to go a step further less than 24 hours later.

Former UK Open finalist and Champions League of Darts winner Colin Osborne equalled his best Challenge Tour run in 4 years. ‘The Wizard’ improved in almost every round including a very strong win over Steve West in the last eight.

The PDC Winmau Challenge Tour returns between 15-17th August with Events 16-20 taking place at the Mattioli Arena, Leicester. All live scores and results will be viewed via tv.dartconnect.com.
