Patrick Mahomes big 'loser' from Chiefs loss to Bills

The Kansas City Chiefs continued their poor regular-season record against the Buffalo Bills, losing 28-21, and Patrick Mahomes had a tough outing.

In truth, the scoreline is a little misleading, given how easily the Bills controlled proceedings, and Mahomes was consistently under siege.

He was 15 of 34 passing for 250 yards (lowest since Week 3), and had a passer rating of 57.2 (lowest of the year), along with being sacked three times and having a late interception.

For CBS Sports' Cody Benjamin, Mahomes was one "loser" from the game against Buffalo.

“Not a lot went No. 15's way at Highmark Stadium,” Benjamin wrote. “We all know the Kansas City Chiefs star has the Buffalo Bills' number when it counts; he's a perfect 4-0 against Josh Allen and Co. in the playoffs. But Sunday was a different story as Allen led a fifth straight regular-season victory over K.C.

"Sean McDermott's defensive front hit Mahomes more than a dozen times, sacking him thrice, and the secondary did its part, too, with Maxwell Hairston snagging a game-sealing pick.”

Blueprint for Mahomes revealed

This is nothing new, and we have seen the blueprint for how teams can beat Mahomes, and it's through incredible and consistent pressure.

The Super Bowl losses to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Philadelphia Eagles saw Mahomes running for his life after the first play, and the Bills dialed up some good pressures and made life hard for No. 15.

That's the way to slay him.

Granted, having the plan and then executing it is another thing entirely, but that has been the one constant that has been giving Patrick trouble. Of course, that could be said about every quarterback because pressure gets to everyone.

And against Buffalo, Mahomes had a dirty day, and now teams will no doubt be trying to replicate what the Bills did.
