Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson have flipped the script for the Chicago Bears. After finishing at the bottom of the NFC North standings, the team is leading the division with an 11-4 record. The head coach is staring at his first postseason appearance in his first season with the franchise. However, it did not start as smoothly as it has looked lately.

The Bears' quarterback, Caleb Williams, opened up about the start of his relationship with the Bears coach.

"Yeah, it took me a while," Williams said. "It took me, you know, throughout camp, at certain parts you know, felt like our relationship was pretty fragile, fragile at certain points from my perspective, like, geez. Like this dude doesn't seem like he likes me. He doesn't have to like me."

"But, but at that point also, and to that extent, you start figuring out that, that's just him, and he cares so much about the sport, he cares so much about us, He cares so much about winning."

Caleb Williams labeled Johnson as a player's coach. He said the Bears coach gets the job done on the gridiron, and as soon as the team gets off the field, the 39-year-old becomes one of them. The quarterback added that it did take a little time, but now it's both fun and enjoyable on and off the field.

Caleb Williams takes a dig at critics after clinching a playoff spot

Caleb Williams shut all the noise this season after finishing with a 5-12 record in his rookie year. The Bears punched their ticket to the playoffs with a comeback overtime 22-16 win over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.

The Bears quarterback took shots at critics who questioned his potential following a disappointing rookie year.

“I've said it in a couple of speeches I had before," Williams said on Tuesday. "I wasn’t the biggest, I wasn’t the strongest, I wasn’t the tallest, fastest, whatever the case may be. I get drafted here, told that I’m not a special player, told that I’m not a good fit here, told that coach (Ben Johnson) and I won’t work, told I can’t win here."

Williams has posted 285 completions of 493 passes for 3,400 yards and 23 touchdowns. He has been intercepted only six times and has rushed 71 times for 369 yards and three touchdowns.

The Bears face the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday Night Football in Week 17. The kickoff is scheduled for 8:20 p.m. ET.
