Casper Ruud has predicted Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner's duopoly at the Majors could come to an end in the near future. The tour's best two players have left their peers way behind, sweeping every Major title between them since the start of 2024.

Greg Rusedski recently interviewed Ruud while he was competing at an UTS event as part of his podcast, Off Court with Greg. The Norwegian weighed in with his thoughts regarding the dominance of Alcaraz and Sinner.

Ruud previously opined that as the era of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic would wind down, more players would have a shot at winning a Major. He admitted being wrong on that front, mainly due to Alcaraz and Sinner stepping up.

"I said few years back when Roger started retiring, he was the first to retire and then Rafa. I said that I was expecting there to be a little bit more Grand Slam champions, than that there has been for those 15-20 years when they were ruling. It really hasn't because Sinner or Alcaraz have won pretty much everything since those guys started to step down," Ruud said.

However, Ruud still believes that over the next decade there will be new Major champions. He hopes to be one of them, despite the impressive level showcased by Alcaraz and Sinner.

"But I still believe in the next 5 to 10 years we'll see more slam champions, and I think there will be more guys that can challenge them. Of course I hope to be one of them. I'm doing my best in practice and in my career to do so. But of course it's really tough. They've kind of taken the game to a new level but you know they're also human just like everyone else. But yeah, they have been the ones that took over the throne of the big three and it's been really impressive, but I hope that there will be few more Grand Slam champions in the years to come," Ruud concluded.

Ruud has contested three Major finals in his career so far. He lost to Nadal and Alcaraz in the French Open and US Open finals in 2022, and went down to Djokovic in the French Open 2023 final. If he intends to snag the elusive Major trophy, then he will need to step up against the tour's dominant duo.

While Casper Ruud remains hopeful of becoming a Major champion, two big obstacles stand in his way. Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have asserted their supremacy over the rest of the tour, including Ruud.

Ruud has never beaten Sinner so far, going 0-4 against him. He has barely won any games against the Italian in their last two matches, losing 6-0, 6-1 at the Italian Open 2025, their most recent meeting.

After losing their first four encounters, Ruud finally managed to get the better of Alcaraz at the ATP Finals 2024. However, the Spaniard regained control of their rivalry in Tokyo this year, winning in three sets to improve his head-to-head against Ruud to 5-1. The Norwegian clearly has a lot of work to do before he's ready to go toe-to-toe with these two.
