Thursday’s NBA Christmas showdown features five games filled with high-stakes matchups and plenty of highlight-reel moments. One of the most compelling matchups pits the San Antonio Spurs against the Oklahoma City Thunder for an afternoon tipoff at 2:30 p.m. ET at Paycom Center.
With the two teams at the forefront of a budding rivalry, the game carries plenty of weight to draw attention from fans across the country and beyond. The element of a battle between two young, top-seeded teams and emerging superstars in Victor Wembanyama and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander makes it even more eye-catching.
Wembanyama and the Spurs have been the Thunder’s kryptonite this season. OKC has only four losses, and two of them have come against San Antonio, including Tuesday’s 130-110 blowout. The teams will meet once again for the fourth and final time in the regular season on Jan. 13.

San Antonio Spurs vs OKC Thunder Preview
Third time’s the charm for the Thunder?
The Thunder started strong at 21-1 and set a franchise-record 16-game winning streak but have dropped three of their last five. It should be noted that all of their losses have come on the road, as they remain the NBA’s lone undefeated team at home with a 14-0 record.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been the Thunder’s most consistent and reliable player, averaging 32.5 points per game this season. He scored 33 points in Tuesday loss against the Spurs, marking his 23rd 30-point outing of the season. It is very conceivable he finishes atop MVP voting this season.
On the injury front, OKC has a few concerns. Chet Holmgren picked up a new facial injury against the Spurs and it remains unclear whether he will be available for the Christmas Day game.
Along with Holmgren, Ajay Mitchell (concussion) and Ousmane Dieng (calf strain) are listed as day-to-day. Meanwhile, Jaylin Williams, Nikola Topic and Thomas Sorber remain ruled out with injuries.
Scorching Spurs
The Spurs have been firing on all cylinders lately, with contributions coming from throughout the lineup. They enter the game on the back of a seven-game winning streak that saw them move from fifth seed to second seed in a week.
Stephon Castley scored a team-high 24 points against the Thunder on Wednesday. Devin Vassell has been red-hot, recording seven consecutive double-digit scoring games with 17 points. The two have meshed well with rookie Dylan Harper, who is seeing some playing time off the bench. Victor Wembanyama also continues to contribute off the bench under the minutes restriction protocol.
In terms of injuries, the Spurs have a clean bill of health. Coach Mitch Johnson could field his strongest five with Wembanyama back in the starting lineup.

San Antonio Spurs vs OKC Thunder Betting Tips
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is favored to score over 32.5 points.
Victor Wembanyama is projected to score more than 17.5 points.
Devin Vassell’s 3-pointers prop is set at 2.5 makes but he is averaging a career-best 2.8 so far this season.
San Antonio Spurs vs OKC Thunder Prediction
The Thunder have found little success of late, struggling to maintain their intensity amid the manic festive schedule. Defensively, they look far less assured when facing Victor Wembanyama and the Spurs, which suggests the visitors will be able to slow the pace and keep the Thunder under 235.5 total points. We expect the same, with the Spurs handing OKC their first home loss of the season.
Final scoreline: 120-112, Spurs win.
