High Limit Racing's annual International event in Australia ended with Kyle Larson running to the end despite a flat tire and fuel leak, but fans were not happy. The three-night sprint car race kicked off at Perth Motorplex on December 28.
Larson faced a late setback as his right rear tire failed, dropping him back to finish 17th. Aussie native Kaiden Manders led the race early after earning the pole position before Hendrick Motorsports' star Corey Day moved to the front. The first caution came on lap 21 when Larson slowed with a flat right rear tire.

Fans shared their sharp criticism, pointing out the bad precedent the sprint car series set after Larson was allowed to stay in the race despite the fuel leak.
"Kyle Larson with a fuel leak and they still send him out is wild," a fan wrote. "No rules for the owners of this trash series," another replied.Larson co-owns High Limit Racing with his brother-in-law, Brad Sweet, a five-time World of Outlaws champion. Their involvement has helped grow the series, but has also fueled debate when incidents like this happen.

"A sprint car safety counsel doesn’t do shit when you push off Larson when he has a leaking fuel tank," another shared. "Sending Larson back on track with a leaking fuel cell some the most kangaroo puncher shit I've ever seen," another fan wrote.Day won the Feature race on Night 1 of the High Limit International after making his debut with a second-place finish on Saturday, December 27. He started fourth and passed pole-sitter Manders for the lead by lap 9, then led 21 of the 30 laps to claim the $15,000 night one prize.
Manders finished second, and Dayne Kingshott took third, rounding out the podium.
Kyle Larson to continue to defend his title on High Limit Racing Night 2
Kyle Larson's High Limit Series will offer AUD $110,000 prize for the winner on the final night, December 30. Larson is also the reigning High Limit International winner from the 2024 event. He won the AUD $100,000 prize at the 1/3-mile dirt oval at Kwinana Beach and took his first career win on Australian soil last December.
This year, Larson will compete against HMS teammate Corey Day, friend Rico Abreu, and series co-owner Brad Sweet, plus leading Australian competitors like Dayne Kingshott, James McFadden, and Callum Williamson.
The event will continue on Monday, December 29, and sprintcars will compete again for a $15,000 winner's purse in the second preliminary feature before the final night.
