AEW just held its final PPV of the year - Worlds End 2025. The show was packed with a lot of amazing matches and moments. The show featured several title matches, including the finals of the Continental Classic Tournament and the AEW World Title match. In this article, we will take a look at three things Tony Khan got right at Worlds End 2025.

#3. Mercedes Mone suffered another crushing defeat

Mercedes Mone has been a dominant force in AEW ever since she signed with the company. She has won titles all over the world from various promotions. However, in recent weeks, it has looked like her downfall might be getting started. She lost the ROH Women's World Television Title to Red Velvet at Final Battle 2025. If this wasn't bad enough, she also lost the RevPro Undisputed British Women's Title to Alex Windsor a few days ago.

Despite these setbacks, Mercedes Mone has been trying to add more titles to her collection, and she teamed up with Athena to do so. At AEW Worlds End 2025, the CEO and Athena faced off against the Babes of Wrath for the Women's Tag Team Titles. However, the Babes of Wrath were able to defeat Mone and Athena. Additionally, it was the former Sasha Banks who was pinned during the match. This was the right decision as it plays into the storyline of Mercedes Mone's downfall.

#2. New Continental Champion crowned

Kazuchika Okada made it to the semi-finals of the Continental Classic Tournament, where he faced his stablemate Konosuke Takeshita. Okada was able to pick up the win with the help of a screwdriver. He then moved on to the finals of the tournament for the second consecutive year, where he faced Jon Moxley.

Despite Okada's best efforts, Moxley proved to be too resilient for him. Therefore, the Purveyor of Violence was able to walk away with the win and became the new Continental Champion. Taking the title off Okada was the right decision for now, since it was very unrealistic for Okada to retain the title in this tournament for two consecutive years. Additionally, Okada has been the Continental Champion for a very long time now and hasn't made the title mean anything. Therefore, it was high time Tony Khan took the belt off him.

#1. MJF became the new AEW World Champion

Originally, Samoa Joe was supposed to defend the AEW World Championship against Swerve Strickland and Hangman Page in a three-way match. However, MJF made his return and cashed in his guaranteed World Title contract to add himself to this match.

At Worlds End, MJF managed to win the World Title. This was the perfect ending to the show. Maxwell is undoubtedly AEW's biggest star, and the company needed to capitalize on this by putting the World Title on him. Worlds End was the perfect time for him to regain the World Title since it is the same PPV where his first reign ended two years ago.
