NFL trade prediction calls for Chiefs-Jets blockbuster deal at the deadline

The New York Jets should be in the sights of every team looking to improve its roster ahead of the trade deadline.

New York is sitting at 1-7 and their playoff chances waved bye bye to them long ago. Now, the Jets need to be active at the trade deadline as sellers in order to acquire much-needed draft capital to get their rebuild going.

One of the Jets' most valuable assets is running back Breece Hall, who was recently predicted to land with the Kansas City Chiefs at the trade deadline in an article by Bleacher Report's Brad Gagnon.

Hall is a pending free agent and the Jets probably have bigger fish to fry this offseason, while the Chiefs are not getting as much as they'd probably like out of their offensive backfield.

It makes all the sense in the world for the Jets to trade Hall.

The running back is in the final year of his deal and he could walk in free agency in 2026 for nothing. An extension doesn't make sense, as the Jets have way too many holes to fill to justify paying a running back any semblance of significant money.

The Chiefs don't have a dire need at running back, but there is no question that Hall would be a massive upgrade over both Kareem Hunt and Isiah Pacheco, neither of whom offer the kind of explosive, big-play skill set Hall does both as a runner and pass-catcher.

That alone could make the Chiefs interested, but another factor might be the health of Pacheco, who is dealing with an injury that could sideline him multiple weeks.

Despite being on one of the worst offenses in the NFL, Hall still ranks sixth with 581 rushing yards. Just imagine what he could do on an offense where he isn't the focal point of opposing defenses every single week.

Trading Hall would leave the Jets extremely short-handed at running back thanks to the injury to Braelon Allen, but the Chiefs could offer up Hunt in a package for Hall to help the Jets remedy that situation for the rest of the season.

Of course, Kansas City would have to include a draft pick, and likely a late Day 2 or early Day 3 selection.

Hall and Pacheco would be a perfect complement to one another. Pacheco can do the dirty work between the tackles and at the goal line, and Hall is capable of handling everything else, including passing-down work.
