Shedeur Sanders had a disappointing NFL Draft weekend, especially after falling all the way to Day Three — a slide that cost him a significant amount of money. Throughout the weekend, speculation swirled about what caused Sanders to drop so far, and now, in the days following the draft, the truth is beginning to emerge.
Initially, reports suggested that Sanders’ entire family overplayed their hand, contributing to his fall. High-profile commentators like Stephen A. Smith pointed out the Sanders family's involvement throughout the process. Cris Carter believes Shedeur’s brand-building efforts may have backfired.
“Well, you don't play football all the time," Carter said. "You're a human being the rest of the time. How you're gonna be in the locker room, how he already came up with this line of merchandise 'LEGENDARY.' Like, he's already calling himself legendary. All those things are problems. Right now, he's working check-to-check, man.”
Then, it was revealed that Sanders may have come across as entitled during his pre-draft interviews.
“I know this after talking to three different personnel people in the NFL this weekend. They didn’t even have him on their board. They took him off, and they took him off because the owner said, take him off. I don’t want that guy. I don’t want this entitled person on our team,” said Boomer Esiason.
Even Colin Cowherd essentially exposed Sanders. However, it’s now being reported that Sanders may have intentionally underperformed in some interviews.

“At some of those [combine] meetings with certain teams that maybe Shedeur Sanders didn’t really want to go to... I was told that he more or less sandbagged in those interviews... I don’t know if he didn’t take them seriously, what it was, but he did not give it his all in some of those interviews,” Jonathan Jones said.
If true, this paints another negative picture of Sanders. In fact, aside from the Cleveland Browns, it’s possible that no team wants to take a chance on him after all this information has come to light.
