On December 29, recent reports indicate that NewJeans' Danielle has been participating in volunteer work. A fan shared a firsthand account online after volunteering alongside her at a coal briquette distribution event.
This comes after ADOR confirmed it has terminated its exclusive contract with Danielle, marking a major escalation in its dispute involving NewJeans. The agency issued a lengthy statement outlining its reasoning.
“Due to ongoing legal procedures, we cannot provide specifics, but Danielle engaged in activities violating the exclusive contract, such as signing conflicting contracts, independent entertainment activities, or damaging the reputation and credibility of ADOR and NewJeans. Despite requests for correction, improvements were not made within the deadline, leading to the termination notice," the company stated. The company added that it plans to disclose the full scope of the dispute at a separate briefing. Details regarding the timing and format of that explanation have not yet been announced. ADOR also provided updates on the status of the remaining members. Hanni has returned to the agency, while negotiations with Minji are still ongoing.
The label previously confirmed that Hyein and Haerin resumed activities following the Seoul court’s ruling in October. It is also reported that HYBE's subsidiary is preparing to file a lawsuit seeking over $7 million in damages and penalties against her following the termination.
NewJeans' Danielle previously also joined the coal briquette volunteer campaign with Sean
On December 22, rapper Noh Seung-hwan, also known as Sean, uploaded photos from a coal briquette site on Instagram. The visit was part of the Raise Korea’s Temperature by 1 Degree campaign. The images also showed Danielle dressed for winter labor. She wore padded work clothes, gloves, and a mask.
The K-pop idol was seen lifting and delivering coal briquettes while joining the volunteers. Sean described the scene, saying it was Danielle’s first time volunteering with coal briquettes.
According to him, though she mentioned sweating in the cold, she felt genuinely happy and continued working quietly, moving forward step by step. The Raise Korea’s Temperature by 1 Degree project promotes warmth through small shared actions. Celebrities and citizens regularly participate in the initiative.
Danielle June Marsh made her debut with NewJeans in July 2022, through their single Attention. The group initially consisted of Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein. Within the ensemble, the Korean-American artist took on the role of vocalist and dancer.
