Newcastle United are moving fast to secure the future of midfield stars Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali amid rising transfer interest.

As per TBR Football, Newcastle want to remove the £100 million release clause in Guimaraes’ contract, which was signed last year. Despite the high figure, club insiders remain concerned that it could be triggered.

Manchester City are named as “huge admirers”, and the financial muscle of the former Premier League and European champions makes them a credible threat.

Guimaraes reportedly costed Newcastle £33 million in January 2022, with the fee rising through add-ons.

He has since emerged as the club’s heartbeat and was appointed captain at the start of this season. The club sees him as as a vital player in Eddie Howe era at St. James’ Park.
