For the second straight year, Kyle Larson is set to have a busy weekend in late May.
The NASCAR driver is once again aiming to participate in both the Indy 500 and NASCAR's Coca-Cola 600 on May 26 after he initially attempted to do the same last year. However, rain delayed the 2024 Indy 500, causing Larson to then miss the beginning of the Coca-Cola 600.
Now, Larson is setting out to qualify for the 2025 Indy 500 after winning Rookie of the Year honors last year. The qualifiers will be the first step in him completing "The Double," which has only been done four times, and only one driver, Tony Stewart, has completed all 1,100 miles of both the Indy 500 and Coca-Cola 600 on the same day.

Here's a look at Larson's qualifying results ahead of the Indy 500.
Did Kyle Larson qualify for the Indy 500?
For the second straight year, Larson earned entry into the Indy 500. The Hendrick Motorsports supernova posted a four-lap average of 231.326 mph, good for 21st in the field.
Larson was faster in his 2024 debut, clocking in at 232.8 mph across his qualifying efforts. He placed an impressive fifth in that iteration of qualifying and flashed good speed during the official race before being felled by a speeding penalty and eventual wreck.
"Balance wise, it was comfortable," Larson said of his open-wheeled chariot "I'm sure had more downforce in it just to get a good run in because I haven't been able to get in four laps yet. Good to get through it, just wish I had more speed. But we will get it ready to go again later and I'm sure we'll look at our teammates stuff a little bit and try and find some speed."
The 2021 NASCAR Cup Series champion crashed during Fast Friday in preparations for the Indy 500, with the nose of his car going directly into the wall after taking a turn too sharp.

— INDYCAR on FOX (@IndyCarOnFOX) May 16, 2025However, Larson showed no concern after the crash as he went into the official qualifiers on Saturday.
"I think I race so often, and honestly, I crash a lot, so I feel like I can get over this pretty quickly,” Larson said, per the Indianapolis Star. “(Crashing) doesn’t usually affect me. Today, when you turn the boost up, it’s normally like, ‘Oh my god, I’m flying,’ but that didn’t feel as crazy as the Open Test when I tuned it up for the first time. As long as the car’s okay, I think we’ll be fine.”

Will Kyle Larson participate in the NASCAR All-Star Race?
Even outside of his busy Memorial Day weekend due to the Indy 500 and Coca-Cola 500, Larson has no plans to compete in the Firestone Fast 6 in Indianapolis if he makes the final qualifying session. Instead, he does plan to fly to the NASCAR All-Star Race on Sunday, per MotorSports Wire.
If Larson finished between 13th and 30th in the Indy 500 qualifying, there wouldn't have been any scheduling conflicts. But because Larson did make the Firestone Fast 6 on Sunday, which begins at 6:25 p.m. ET, he won't be able to make it due to the NASCAR All-Star Race beginning at 8 p.m. ET in North Wiklesboro.
Larson is set to automatically claim sixth in the Firestone Fast 6 if he doesn't participate.
