The New York Yankees are in a bit of a dilemma right now when it comes to Jasson Dominguez. At this point, there's reason to believe that the Yankees would be interested in trading him if the deal makes sense.
TJ French of Heavy.com proposed that the Yankees could consider moving the youngster in a deal that brings Lars Nootbaar to the Bronx.
French proposed a scenario in which the Yankees would trade Dominguez to the St. Louis Cardinals for Nootbaar, a versatile outfielder who has proven to be a nice contributor throughout his career.
“New York Yankees finally offload Jasson Dominguez in a player-swap deal that lands versatile outfielder Lars Nootbaar,” French wrote.
“Nootbaar has consistently hit 12-14 home runs over the course of his four-year MLB career. He hit 13 home runs in 2025.”
While Dominguez has long been viewed as one of the Yankees’ most exciting prospects, he's yet to fully figure it out at the highest level, and his way to at-bats isn't where it should be.
“While Dominguez’s ceiling appears to be higher than that from a power standpoint, he’s yet to show that in his MLB at-bats,” French wrote.
“In those 529 plate appearances, Dominguez has 16 home runs, 58 RBI, and an OPS+ of 103.”
Whether the Yankees are seriously considering moving such a highly touted player remains unclear, but if it happens, they need to get the right return.
