Oilers make brutal Tristan Jarry, Connor Ingram goalie decision after trade

This wasn't supposed to work out like this for the Edmonton Oilers and Tristan Jarry.

When they traded for him from the Pittsburgh Penguins earlier in the season, Jarry was meant to solve their goaltending woes. Instead, he's only added to them.

That has led to a benching for Jarry.

TSN's Ryan Rishaug reported Sunday that Connor Ingram will be the Oilers' starting goalie from here on out and be given starts accordingly.

The Oilers had to do something, and this is the move.

Jarry did miss time with an injury already in his Edmonton tenure, but on the ice, he's been brutal.

In 15 games with the Oilers, Jarry has an 85.4 save percentage and has a 4.17 goals against average.

Ingram isn't the best goalie in the NHL by any stretch, but he's a lot better than that.

This season, Ingram has played in 20 games and put up a 9-6-2 record. He has an 89.1 save percentage and a 2.79 goals against average.

It's the lesser of two evils, if you will, for the Oilers.

They still likely need to find some regained confidence for Jarry before the playoffs arrive, but at some point, Edmonton will simply have to roll with the guy who gives them the best chance to win, and at the moment that's definitely not Jarry.
