Star players often think about the teams that helped shape their careers, especially when discussing big moments. For Juan Soto, those memories included multiple stops and several teams that made deep postseason runs.
However, a recent comment from the outfielder unintentionally created an interesting talking point involving the New York Mets.
While speaking with Siera Santos of MLB Network, Soto spoke about some of the most enjoyable teams he’s been part of during his career. He didn’t name the Mets.
“2019 and 2024, those were really fun teams I played with, but this has to be top of the top," Soto said. "You have the whole family, the whole Dominican Republic cheering for you.”
The comment quickly drew attention because Soto spoke about the 2019 and 2024 teams he played on. In 2019, Soto helped lead the Washington Nationals to a World Series title, one of the more impressive runs in baseball.
His 2024 season also became a great year, as he played a major role in a lineup with the New York Yankees.
Because Soto didn’t mention the Mets when discussing his most memorable moments, it was obvious where this was going to go. However, it’s not too surprising to see him say he was happier to win. That’s part of the game.
