As Opening Day gets closer, teams across baseball need to ensure that guys are ready to go. Francisco Lindor of the New York Mets is a player they need out there every game, but it’ll only happen if he’s healthy.
According to Will Sammon, Lindor’s availability for the start of the season remains somewhat uncertain following offseason surgery.
“It is strange not to list Lindor as a lock. He is questionable for the start of the season after surgery on his left hamate bone.
“People within the Mets, including Stearns, remain optimistic that Lindor will be ready for Opening Day. Over the last two weeks, Lindor has ramped up baseball activities,” he wrote.
Despite that uncertainty, the Mets remain optimistic about Lindor’s progress.
As Sammon said, over the past two weeks, Lindor has done more as he works his way back toward game action. Having him play a few games in Spring Training will be very important.
According to Sammon, David Stearns said that Lindor playing in Spring Training is “a prerequisite” for him to be on the Opening Day roster.
For the Mets, having Lindor available from day one is about as important as anything.
