New Browns report reveals trade plan with 6th overall pick in 2026 NFL Draft

The Cleveland Browns are in the middle of a rebuild, and thanks to the trade-down with the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2025 NFL Draft, they have two first-rounders this year.

Picking at 6th overall in the 2026 NFL Draft, and 24th overall thanks to the Jaguars' pick, the Browns have plenty of ammo to do almost whatever they want in this year's draft.

According to Cleveland.com's Mark Kay Cabot, the Browns have a plan with their 6th overall pick, and it's similar to last year. The Browns are considering another trade-down in hopes of repeating the success of last year's trade-down.

Browns to explore trade-down options from 6th overall

"The Browns will explore opportunities to trade down from No. 6 in hopes of finding a blockbuster deal like last year," Cabot reports.

Many teams would love to move down in the draft if they can. As seen last year with the Browns, they were able to trade down, land a lot of extra value, and still draft a good player in Mason Graham.

This year, however, their odds of making such a trade-down don't look to be as good as they were last year. Thanks to a weaker draft class, the Browns might not have a player available worth trading up for.

But, if one of the top defenders in David Bailey, Ruben Bain Jr., Arvell Reese, Caleb Downs, or Sonny Styles makes it to 6th overall, the Browns might get strong offers for one of the few top players in the 2026 class.

While the odds might not be in the Browns' favor for finding a trade-down partner, Cabot's report indicates that Andrew Berry will be exploring a trade down.

At the NFL Scouting Combine, the Browns will, according to Cabot, use some of their time to gauge interest from teams around the NFL who might be interested in a trade-up for the right player.

The first round of the 2026 NFL Draft should be a fun one for the Browns, and it might involve another big trade-down from 6th overall. Berry and the Browns are willing to move down; the only question is, will a team want to move up?
