The 2025-26 NHL season is just not for the Vancouver Canucks. Coach Adam Foote has struggled to find ways to in the ice and those problems got worse as the games went by. After the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, they had a very unfortunate incident involving Filip Chytil at practice. His return to what could go down as a historically bad season is now put into question.

Vancouver head coach gets real on center's injury

Chytil could possibly miss the rest of the Canucks season. This was after he got hit by a puck during their practice to prepare for the Winnipeg Jets. His face may have been severely damaged which was a point of concern for the Vancouver fans.

Coach Foote unveiled his thoughts on the injury and gave a much-needed update, via NHL.com.

"He had a couple breaks under his eye. They haven’t determined if he’ll be out for the season yet. They are going to see another specialist. They don’t think it’s going to have to be surgical. Fingers crossed and we'll wait and see," the Canucks head coach said.

This is just Chytil's second year with the Canucks after having spent eight seasons with the New York Rangers. Under Coach Foote for the 2025-26 campaign, the center has only played 12 games. This is because he suffered a concussion back in October.

Notably, his prowess in finding the back of the net has not kicked in yet for the Canucks. Despite shooting 40 shots on goal, he has only managed to find the back of the net thrice. Chytil has also not registered an assist yet to keep the Vancouver offense running. This is another unfortunate piece of information that the Canucks will have to deal with.

Hopefully, they get a higher draft pick and hit the ground running in the next season.
