MS Dhoni, two other Indian legends feature in Hashim Amla's all-time ODI XI

Former South Africa batter Hashim Amla has revealed his all-time ODI XI. The 42-year-old shared his selections on a YouTube podcast with Shubhankar Mishra, released on Saturday, November 8. Amla named Sachin Tendulkar and Adam Gilchrist as the openers of his XI.

At No. 3, he placed veteran India cricketer Virat Kohli, followed by Brian Lara and his compatriot AB de Villiers. Next, he chose Jacques Kallis, and at No. 7, he included former India skipper MS Dhoni.

For the bowling lineup, Amla picked two spinners, Muttiah Muralitharan and Shane Warne, along with two pacers, Wasim Akram and Dale Steyn, to complete his XI.

In the same conversation, Hashim Amla was also asked to name his top three current ODI and Test batters. For the 50-over format, he picked Virat Kohli, who currently ranks as the second-highest run-scorer in ODIs with 14,255 runs in 305 games, including 75 fifties and 51 hundreds.

He also named former India skipper Rohit Sharma, who has scored 11,370 runs in 276 games, with 59 fifties and 33 hundreds, and he picked Kane Williamson, who has featured in 175 games, scoring 7,256 runs with 47 fifties and 15 hundreds.

For Tests, Amla selected England veteran Joe Root, the current second-highest scorer in the format. The right-handed batter has amassed 13,543 runs in 158 games, hitting 66 fifties and 39 hundreds.

Additionally, he chose Steve Smith, who has scored 10,477 runs for Australia in 119 Tests, with 43 fifties and 36 hundreds. Finally, Kane Williamson featured again, having scored 9,276 runs in 105 games, with 37 fifties and 33 hundreds.
