Mexico and Uruguay return to action on Saturday when they square off in an international friendly fixture at the Estadio Corona. This will be the first meeting between the two teams since June 2024, when Uruguay cruised to a 4-0 victory in a similar friendly fixture.

Mexico played out a 1-1 draw with Ecuador last time out when German Berterame and Jody Alcivar netted for either side to force a share of the spoils on October 15.

Javier Aguirre’s men have failed to win any of their four friendly matches since their Gold Cup triumph in July, claiming three draws and losing once in that time.

Next up for Mexico is the stern challenge of an opposing side who have won five of their most recent six encounters, with a 3-1 victory in June 2016 being the exception.

On the other hand, Uruguay maintained their fine run of results last time out as they picked up a 2-1 victory over Uzbekistan at the Stadium Hang Jebat on October 13.

Before that, Marcelo Bielsa’s side closed out their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign with two wins and one draw from their final three games, before claiming a 1-0 friendly victory over Dominican Republic on October 10.

Uruguay picked up 28 points from their 18 matches in the World Cup qualifiers to finish fourth in the group standings and seal a fifth straight appearance in the global tournament.

Mexico vs Uruguay Prediction

Mexico and Uruguay head into the weekend in contrasting form, with Aguirre’s men failing to win their most recent four matches.
