Denver Nuggets vs. Minnesota Timberwolves preview
The Denver Nuggets are flying high, having won six games in a row, and are up to second in the Western Conference. In their last game, they secured a 14-point win over the LA Clippers, with Nikola Jokic dropping a 55-point double-double.
The Serbian star has opened the season in dominant form, averaging 28.8 points (sixth in the league), 13.1 rebounds (first), and 10.9 assists (first). His strong play has fueled Denver’s success, with the Nuggets yet to drop a game in November.
Additionally, the Nuggets have been one of the league’s strongest all-around teams, excelling on both ends of the floor. They own the NBA’s third-best offense and defense, averaging 124.5 points while allowing 111.2. They also rank fifth in rebounding (47.5 rpg) and fourth in assists (29.5 apg).
On the other hand, the Minnesota Timberwolves have started to pick up their pace after a slow start and are on a four-game win streak. Their latest victory over the Sacramento Kings was powered by Anthony Edwards’ 30-point outing.
The guard was sidelined for five games at the start of the season, but has been their best performer since returning to the starting five. He is currently averaging 27.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists, leading the Timberwolves (8-4) to fifth in the standings.
Minnesota has leaned on Edwards’ scoring, posting the seventh-best offense in the league at 121.4 points per game. However, they’ll need to tighten up defensively, as they are giving up 115.3 points per game, the 11th-highest mark in the NBA.
In terms of injuries, the Timberwolves will be without Terrence Shannon Jr. (foot). Meanwhile, the Nuggets could be without Nikola Jokic (wrist) and Cam Johnson (biceps), while Christian Braun (ankle) is set to be out for a few weeks.
