Mercedes Mone could be at the gates of a major downward spiral, having lost her only AEW singles title earlier this week. Although she still has plenty of gold to her name, the erstwhile Sasha Banks' recent failures in All Elite Wrestling could prompt her to go on a temporary hiatus from the promotion. When she returns later, she may come back with some reinforcements of her own in the form of The Renegade Twins.
Mercedes Mone's dominant run in All Elite Wrestling suffered its first major setback at the hands of Toni Storm at All In: Texas, where The CEO failed to unseat The Timeless One for the AEW Women's World Title. Although she continued to add to her ever-increasing collection of belts outside of the Tony Khan-led promotion, the All Elite Women's Championship continued to elude her, as she failed to dethrone Kris Statlander for it at Full Gear 2025.
At the same time, Mercedes' super-team with Athena was eliminated from a tournament to crown the inaugural AEW Women's World Tag Team Champions by the eventual winners of the belts, The Babes of Wrath. At Worlds End 2025, Harley Cameron and Willow Nightingale retained their titles against The Minion Overlord and "10" Belts Mone after Willow pinned the latter. In an even more shocking development, on Dynamite: New Year's Smash last Wednesday, The Babe with The Power reclaimed the TBS Title from Mercedes.
Mone was spotted sitting distraught while Nightingale celebrated her victory on Dynamite. Now that she has lost her only singles title in AEW, Mercedes' character could turn even more desperate to return to winning ways. At this point, she could go on a programming hiatus to recuperate, only to return later with a couple of stable-mates of her own- The Renegade Twins.
Reports from last year noted that "Ultimo" Mone was interested in working with Charlette and Robyn Renegade on television, although their team-up has yet to materialize. Now that two of her sworn enemies- Kris Statlander and Willow Nightingale- are holding two of the company's top women's singles belts, Mercedes could go after both championships and recruit The Renegades to help her on her quest.
AEW's Mercedes Mone is still a champion in various promotions
Over the past year, Mercedes Mone has lived up to her reputation as a global superstar, competing across and capturing titles in a variety of independent promotions from all over the world. Despite losing a couple of her belts lately, The Boss still currently holds a number of championships, including the EWA Women's Title, the Bestya Women's Title, the PTW Women's Title, the DW Women's Title, the BODYSLAM Women's Title, the APAC Women's Title, the WPW Women's Title and the CMLL World Women's Title, not to mention her 2025 Owen Hart Cup strap.
