Edge rusher Maxx Crosby's trade market is heating up as the Las Vegas Raiders have shown a willingness to move the superstar defender, and the Chicago Bears have been frequently linked to Crosby.
Chicago could look to trade for Crosby to upgrade their pass rush and cause a major shakeup in the NFC West. However, the team received a horrible update from ESPN's Adam Schefter on Thursday regarding their chances of landing the five-time Pro Bowler.
During an appearance on the ESPN 100 radio show Waddle and Silvy, Schefter said he doesn't believe the Bears are in the driver's seat to trade for Crosby.
Schefter didn't rule out the possibility of Crosby landing in Chicago, but it doesn't look likely right now.
"Adam Schefter was just on Waddle and Silvy. Didn’t seem convinced Maxx Crosby gets dealt but did say he doesn’t see the Bears in the driver’s seat for a deal right now," Aaron Leming of Bear Report said on X regarding Schefter's comments.
Trading for Crosby would elevate the Bears into possible NFC favorites, as the 28-year-old is one of the most impactful players in the sport and would be a home-run addition to Dennis Allen's unit.
However, Schefter's latest update doesn't offer much optimism that Chicago will be able to get a deal done with Las Vegas, whose asking price for Crosby is still incredibly high.
If the Bears can't acquire Crosby, they will have to pivot and look for other ways to address their pass rush, likely through free agency or the draft.
