Keon Coleman named biggest loser of Bills' DJ Moore trade

1 hour ago 3

When news filtered through that the Buffalo Bills traded for Chicago Bears receiver DJ Moore, many were excited at the fact that Josh Allen got his No.1 receiver.

No, it wasn't the needle-mover like A.J. Brown, but still, Moore is a capable receiver.

But what this move means for others on the roster isn't great, especially for Keon Coleman, as he was already down the depth chart. Now, even more so.

For Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox, he's named Coleman as one of the losers from Buffalo's trade.

"Moore's arrival will impact the production of Bills receivers like Tyrell Shavers and 2025 top target Khalil Shakir," Knox wrote. "However, the true loser of the bunch is Keon Coleman. While Coleman still has two years left on his rookie contract, the trade for Moore suggests that Buffalo may have given up on trying to turn him into a star."

Is Keon really a loser of Moore trade?

Well, it depends on how you look at it.

If we look at the Bills' 2026 depth chart as things stand, it is Khalil Shakir, Moore, and Joshua Palmer ahead of Keon. That's it. Yes, there's Tyrell Shavers, but Coleman isn't that far down the depth chart at receiver.

Of course, when we factor in Dalton Kincaid and James Cook as a receiving option, then Keon's targets could dry up. After all, Moore will get his every week because otherwise, why would you trade for him?

So, things might have just gotten a little tougher for Keon in Buffalo, and despite Joe Brady publicly having his back, Year 3 is looming as a defining one for the receiver.
