The Dallas Mavericks crafted their team with the intention of winning now. However, they now sit at 12-22 and 12th in the Western Conference. It might be time to blow up and center a rebuild around their rookie phenom, Cooper Flagg.

The first thing they can do is trade Anthony Davis and get a huge package in return. Fansided’s Eamon Cassels believes they can do something with the Atlanta Hawks, who they have already been rumored to be tied with, for a package around Zaccharie Risacher.

The trade would look like this:

Hawks get: PF/C Anthony Davis

Mavericks get: SF Zaccharie Risacher, SG Luke Kennard, PF/C Kristaps Porzingis, draft capital TBD

“In the modern NBA, you can never have enough wings, and having two promising young wings is an ideal scenario for Dallas. Of course, Cooper Flagg's upside is much higher than Risacher's. Nevertheless, Risacher's hypothetical 3-and-D skill set could be the ideal complement to Flagg's all-around brilliance. Trading for Risacher and adding another lottery pick in June would give the Mavs a solid young foundation around Flagg,” Cassels wrote.

Getting Kennard gives the Mavs another shooter, and a reunion with Porzingis would allow the Mavericks to replace Davis on the floor, albeit that Porzingis is as prone to missing games as Davis.

If the Mavericks are smart, they’ll bite the bullet, accept their win-now move failed miserably, and make this trade.
