Matt Fitzpatrick has surpassed LIV golfer Bryson DeChambeau in the Official World Golf Ranking after his marvellous victory at the 2025 DP World Tour Championship. The English golfer competed at the recently concluded European Tour event and has registered a win after defeating defending champion Rory McIlroy.

Fitzpatrick has gained 32.20084 OWGR points and jumped to 24th position in the ranking. He was ranked 30th ahead of the event. Bryson DeChambeau, on the other hand, is ranked 25th in the OWGR.

The LIV golfer had not played in any of the DP World Tour events this season and has been enjoying a break since his last outing at the LIV Golf Michigan event. He had an impressive performance in the majors earlier this year, which helped him secure a position in the top 25 in the OWGR.

DeChambeau settled for T5 at the Masters and was the runner-up at the PGA Championship. He missed the cut at the US Open but was tied for 10th at The Open.

Matt Fitzpatrick has also made significant improvements in the OWGR ranking in the last few months. He was ranked 77th ahead of the 2025 Genesis Scottish Open. He has since had some decent finishes on the PGA Tour and on the DP World Tour and jumped within the top 25 in the OWGR.

Meanwhile, Scottie Scheffler is still leading the standings, followed by Rory McIlroy in second place.

Matt Fitzpatrick opens up about his win at the DP World Tour Championship

Matt Fitzpatrick settled in a tie for the lead with Rory McIlroy after four rounds at the DP World Tour Championship at 18-under. In the playoff, the Northern Irish golfer made a bogey while Fitzpatrick settled for a par and registered a win in the game.

It was his third win at the tournament, and in the post-round press conference, Fitzpatrick opened up about his performance. He said (via APAP Sports):

"It means the world. Struggled at the start of this year, obviously, and to turn it around in the summer like I did and have a Ryder Cup like I did, Ryder Cup in particular, feel like it's hard to top given everything. "But the way that I played today, you know, I feel like I really didn't hit one bad shot all day. I'm so proud of myself, the effort that everyone puts in behind the scenes. Yeah, what a feeling. What a feeling," he added.

Prior to this, Matt Fitzpatrick had won the DP World Tour Championship in 2020 and in 2016. He started his run this year with a round of 69 on the first day and then carded the next round of 69. He played a third round of 66 followed by another round of 66.

This season on the DP World Tour, he had some decent finishes, such as solo fifth at the Omega European Masters, T5 at the BMW PGA Championship, and T21 at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
