This past Friday, former NBA player Patrick Beverley was arrested by authorities in Texas and charged with Assault Family/Household Impeding Breath in the third degree. Beverley was reportedly involved in a "family violence incident" involving his sister, a minor, and an 18-year-old man.
Since then, netizens have been buzzing about the case of Beverley, who had garnered a reputation as a tough, loudmouthed defender in the NBA. Five-time NBA champion Ron Harper weighed in, calling Beverley's character into question.
"Not so tough," Harper tweeted.•

According to the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched to a home in the Houston suburb of Rosharon on Friday morning. They arrested Beverley, who later posted a $40,000 bail to be released from jail.
Beverley, who last played for the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2023-24 NBA season, later went on X to urge fans to "not believe everything you see on the internet." He followed this up with a statement prepared by his lawyer.
"Patrick Beverley has no criminal record. He cares deeply about his little sister - a young lady, a minor," the statement read. "Given that, when he unexpectedly found her alone in the home with an 18-year-old man in the middle of the night, he was understandably concerned, as any brother would be about his sister."It should be noted, though, that Beverley has been involved in some other questionable situations in the past. During his last NBA game back in May 2024, he threw a ball at some Indiana Pacers fans, who subsequently filed a lawsuit against him.
Still, the statement prepared by Beverley's lawyer claimed the ex-NBA guard was being unfairly depicted on the internet, following his arrest in Rosharon.
"However, we don't believe what followed happened the way it's been described and we look forward to the opportunity to address that in court," the statement added."Cmon Miami": Patrick Beverley posts sports-related tweet following arrest
Two days after Beverley was arrested, he posted an ambiguous tweet that appeared to be related to sports.
"Cmon Miami. Just kick field goal wtHelly," Beverley posted on X.Cmon Miami. Just kick field goal wtHelly
Beverley offered no further context for his tweet. Some fans, who were clearly thinking about the case that he's currently involved in, commented that it was not quite appropriate for the player-turned-podcaster to immediately make his presence felt on social media.
