Matt Barnes Sets the Record Straight With Documents Detailing Viral Woman’s Alleged $60K Extortion Attempt

Matt Barnes took matters into his own hands for his public defense. The former Golden State Warriors player said that after being under constant strain and being threatened for almost two years, he wanted to sue the parties involved in 'extorting' money from him.

"For the last six to eight months, there's been a lot of bullsh**, particularly posted by Tasha K and some new chick just got into it, Jeese something about messages, text messages, voices, audios and all these sh** and it's a 1000% all bulls**."

Barnes revealed that in July 2023, he and his ex, Anansa Sims, had split for a month. The former NBA player added that he started talking to a woman who had DM'd him, and over time, their conversation got "spicy." However, Barnes added that he never met the woman in person and stopped talking to her after he and his ex got back together.

However, things changed next year when Matt Barnes and his ex started a reality show, "The Barnes Bunch," on WeTV. During the show, Sims got pregnant, and the couple revealed the big news to the world. According to Barnes, shortly after the pregnancy news, he started getting calls from different phone numbers threatening to expose him.

The 2017 NBA champion further revealed that he had no idea what the threat was because he hadn't gotten physical with the woman or even met her. However, he paid for a year for her to keep things private because his ex was then pregnant, and kept the payment flowing untill December 2024.

Barnes alleged that in January 2025, the woman in question started threatening to expose him. According to the former NBA player, the woman had used AI to manipulate his voice messages to her.

Things escalated quickly for Matt Barnes after Tasha K made things public without fact-checking the evidence provided to her. The allegations about him being gay, talking a woman into having an abortion and other threats about his kids.

Matt Barnes later published the chat with the woman who demanded money. In the payment receipts that he provided, Barnes had been making payments on the 5th or 6th of every month, for a total $61.2K. After he stopped sending her the payment in January, she started sending him messages and threatened to expose him.

"Now you think your about to play with me you low key Did play in my face with the little 5k. I let that go but ok let's play. Happy new year. You told me to not saying anything and I did that looking out for your and your family..... this what you do he'll you don't care about me and my feelings so why should I care. So let's play," the message read.

The receipts showed a year of back-and-forth between Matt Barnes and the woman. Barnes said that he was going to get the reality out and, in further action, will sue both Tasha K and the woman.

Matt Barnes' private life has been exposed for a year now. Shortly before his voice message involving Shaquille O'Neal allegedly trying to find dirt on Sannon Sharpe went viral, his ex, Anansa Sims, alleged that Barnes had cheated on her with eight different women in January alone.

"Why Matt? 8 different women in January," Sims wrote in a deleted Instagram post.

The former couple had been engaged since 2022, but broke up in January this year.
