A major update has emerged about the recovery of a two-time AEW champion currently on an injury-induced hiatus from the Jacksonville-based promotion.
That star is Will Ospreay, who was last seen competing in an AEW ring at Forbidden Door 2025, where he led his team to a huge victory in a Lights Out Steel Cage match. The Aerial Assassin has since undergone major neck surgery and is currently in rehab. According to earlier reports, the former two-time International Champion's return to Tony Khan's promotion would not occur until the first half of 2026. However, a recent update from his fellow AEW star and fiancée, Alex Windsor, suggested that his return could come sooner.
In a conversation with Metro UK, Windsor said the British star is recovering well and will be back better than ever.
“Of course, it has been a struggle for him, but he’s doing so well. It’s no surprise, you know, but he’s absolutely smashing it,” she said with a smile. I personally [think] he’ll be back better than ever. I have no doubt about it in my mind,” said Windsor [H/T: Ringsidenews]Why Orton didn't show up for Cena's match - Check details!
