Bears’ Caleb Williams makes NFL history that no one has ever done before

It’s been an exciting season for Chicago Bears fans, showing not only that the team has a bright future in the immediate term, but also that it’s well-positioned for long-term success.

Quarterback Caleb Williams has impressed under new head coach Ben Johnson in his first season, which is about all Bears fans could have hoped for. Add in the team’s 10-4 record and several statement wins, and there’s plenty to be optimistic about.

Williams has also made some history along the way.

The Bears announced Monday that he has thrown the fewest interceptions through 1,000 career passing attempts. While that isn’t the end-all be-all, it does show just how much Williams is settling in at the highest level.

More importantly, according to Mike Pendleton of Bears Wire, Williams’ development into this type of player matters more than any single statistic right now.

“The most exciting thing about the play of Williams in his first year with Ben Johnson, is that the two are just getting started in what is starting to look like could be a long-term successful relationship.

“Doubling their win total from Williams' rookie season and making them a real threat atop the NFC playoff picture, the former No. 1 overall pick is starting to find his groove at the right point of the season, with just three games left in the regular season, all of which are crucial to Chicago's playoff positioning,” he wrote.

There’s no guarantee of long-term success for any NFL team, but the Bears have every reason to feel good about where they’re headed.
