A major report has come in regarding Nixon Newell (FKA Tegan Nox) after she walked out of AEW last week. An unnamed individual has made a massive accusation against her following the recent controversy.
During last week's episode of Collision, Newell and her girlfriend, Miranda Alize, were originally booked for a match against TayJay. They seemingly walked out of the match as they were unhappy with only being given three minutes for this. This decision was made at the last minute, so the promotion had to look for individuals to fill in for them. Maya World and Hyan stepped up in their stead.
During a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was reported that one individual on the independent circuit mentioned that this controversy won't help Nixon Newell secure bookings, despite similar situations having the opposite effect.
"One person involved with the independent scene said they didn’t believe this publicity would help get Newell bookings even though this became kind of the talk in wrestling and some indie promoters think that controversy will help sell tickets and they aren’t just two random women."Is Rhea a Bigger Draw Than Brock Lesnar? - Watch Here!
Another unnamed booker gave a bold take and mentioned how this situation will give her zero leverage with bookings. They claimed that this was WWE brain rot and that she was asking too much based on her name alone.
"But one person who books independent talent said they disagreed: 'Wasn’t it just the other week you were talking about wrestlers who had leverage not wanting to do business? How about wrestlers with zero leverage? Nixon isn’t gonna get work out of this. She wasn’t getting work before and was crying about it. She asks way too much money and sells zero tickets on her name alone. Usual WWE brain rot." [H/T Cultaholic Wrestling on X]Nixon Newell may never get booked in AEW anymore
On a recent edition of the Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez discussed what they had heard from those within AEW.
Meltzer believed that Nixon Newell, and Miranda Alize may never be booked within the company ever again. Alvarez heard something similar, as those within the company strongly believed the duo had done something stupid.
"Let me tell you something I heard from a lot of people, and what is amazing is that the show was going on. So, people weren't even waiting until the show was over. Maybe Tony told them there were no hard feelings, but I can tell you one thing, there were so many people that were like 'such a stupid thing to do,' that's the one thing i heard over and over, 'what a stupid thing to do.,'" said AlvarezBryan Alvarez details how he heard from many people within AEW saying “What a Stupid Thing to do” when describing Nixon Newell/Miranda Alize's walkout on Collision. Dave doesn't expect them to be booked by AEW again.
Nixon Newell has recently revealed that she is considering retiring by 2026. With the current situation she is in, it remains to be seen if she'll be able to garner some bookings before she decides to hang up her wrestling boots.
