Manchester United's preseason preparations are firmly underway for the 2026/27 season.
The Red Devils enjoyed a strong second half of last term after Michael Carrick replaced Ruben Amorim as head coach. The former United midfielder led his side to 12 wins, three draws and just two defeats, securing third place in the Premier League and qualification for the UEFA Champions League.
Now, the onus is on Carrick — who was given the full-time manager's job at the end of last season — to hit the ground running in 2026/27 and give supporters hope of real success.
Here is how United's preseason schedule looks as they aim to prepare in the best way possible for the campaign to come.

Where are Man United playing preseason games?
Unlike many previous years, United are not embarking on a preseason tour to places further afield such as the United States or China.
Instead, all their warm-up matches will take place in Europe. After facing Wrexham in Helsinki, Finland, they head to Norway to play Rosenborg, then Sweden for games against Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain. The Leeds United friendly is at Dublin's Croke Park, while their final preseason fixture against AC Milan — now managed by former United head coach Ruben Amorim — is in Wroclaw, Poland.
When announcing the plans, the club said the schedule "has been designed to support our football preparations, while giving us the opportunity to connect with our supporters across Europe." Player welfare will undoubtedly have been a factor in reducing travel distances, with some United first-team stars having been at the World Cup in North America.
When do World Cup players return to Man United?
United had a total of 13 players at the World Cup, all of whom will be given time off before returning for preseason duties.
Midfielder Manuel Ugarte suffered a serious knee injury while playing for Uruguay at the tournament and will be sidelined for many months, so he will not be back in the first-team picture for some time.
United have not stated exactly when World Cup players will start their 2026/27 preparations with the rest of the squad, but it is likely that all those who were with their national teams in North America will be on holiday until at least the beginning of August. We will then see players gradually make their returns to action during the four friendlies that month, meaning the team will be at nearly full strength by the time of the Milan game on August 15.
When is Man United's first Premier League game of 2026/27?
United's campaign begins with a trip to promoted Hull City on August 22. The kickoff for that Saturday game is 12:30 p.m. local time (7:30 a.m. ET).
They then have four more league matches, including the first Manchester derby of the season, until the first international break of the new campaign begins on September 21.
