Mad Men's John Slattery Shares Insight Into Jon Hamm Reunio
John Slattery will always make time for one of his Hollywood besties.
The Mad Men alum reunited with his former costar Jon Hamm in the new comedy Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass—an official selection of the Premieres at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival—raving that he had “the best” experience working with his old scene partner again.
“It’s always super fun,” John told E! News’ Will Marfuggi in an exclusive interview in Park City, Utah, Jan. 25. “No overt communication necessary.”
In fact, Jon, 54, had a straightforward pitch to get the 63-year-old to sign onto the project, in which a bride-to-be (Zoey Deutch) seeks revenge on her fiancé (Michael Cassidy) for using his celebrity “hall pass” ahead of their wedding.
“He actually called me about this and said, ‘David Wayne wrote a script—he wants to send it to you,’” John continued. “I said, ‘Send it.’ I was in Budapest, it was the middle of the night, I was jetlagged. He sent me the script and I read it at 1 in the morning, then called him back immediately and said, ‘I’m in.’”
Noting that the duo—who play themselves in the movie—have a “similar sense of humor,” John added, “I thought it was as funny as he did, and here we are.”
In the ten years since Mad Men ended its seven-season run in 2015, Jon and John have maintained a close friendship offscreen. So, would they ever consider revisiting their advertising executive alter-egos?

“I’m not looking to do Mad Men again,” John shared. “I’m lucky enough to have had that. It’s fun to see Hamm, and we see each other away from work, so we’re good.”
Indeed, when the two do team up again professionally, they prefer to explore new creative territory.
“We’ve done a bunch of stuff together after [Mad Men],” John explained. “You can’t do everything together. I mean, we have such a good time, but you gotta do other stuff.”
While Jon and John’s colleague-to-comrade evolution isn’t surprising, other star pairings may be a bit less obvious. Keep reading to for some celebrity friendships you may not have seen coming…
