Sam Darnold has joined Joe Namath in New York Jets history.
The problem for the Jets, of course, is that Darnold has done this while playing for the Seattle Seahawks.
Darnold is the second QB drafted by the Jets to reach a Super Bowl. The first was Namath, who got the job done while wearing Jets colors.
For Darnold, it's been a winding road since the Jets made him the No. 3 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

He went 13-25 in three seasons as the Jets' starter, and they shipped him to the Carolina Panthers.
Two years there weren't any better, and so Darnold went to the San Francisco 49ers to be a backup.
After learning under Kyle Shanahan for a season, Darnold headed north to the Minnesota Vikings, where he became the starter by default when J.J. McCarthy suffered a season-ending knee injury in the preseason.
Darnold went 14-3 with the Vikings, setting up his $100 million contract in free agency with the Seattle Seahawks.
And in the Pacific Northwest, Darnold has led the Seahawks to the NFC's No. 1 seed and now a spot in the Super Bowl.
Darnold was sharp in the NFC Championship Game, throwing touchdowns to Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Cooper Kupp and Jake Bobo, all while under pressure from a strong Rams defensive line.

Now, Darnold gets to face a familiar foe in the Super Bowl, the New England Patriots.
They were once the team that got Darnold to say he was "seeing ghosts" out on the field. Obviously, it's a different Pats group now, and it's also a different Darnold.
It's not clear how Jets fans will be feeling about seeing Darnold reach the biggest stage. It's not quite the same as Namath doing it while still with the team that drafted him, that's for sure.
