Last month, Min Woo Lee racked up a pretty decent performance at the Baycurrent Classic. At Yokohama Golf Club, the PGA Tour pro carded a total 11 under par in four rounds, finishing in 10th place in the leaderboard.
After that, the pro from Perth has gone back home to get up for the upcoming Australian PGA Championship at Royal Queensland and the Australian Open at Royal Melbourne. Amidst a packed schedule, Lee has been bombarded with reports regarding his future in pro golf. Reportedly, Min Woo Lee might be moving to LIV Golf, which now boasts an extended 72-hole format for the 2026 season.
However, Lee was quick to shut all the rumours down in a recent interview session with the reporters. Dr. Chipinski made it very clear that he is not looking to switch tours at this point. In his statement, Min Woo Lee explained that he is looking forward to the next season of the Tour.
🚨👨🍳❌ #NEW — Min Woo Lee shuts down rumours that he was leaving the Tour for LIV Golf: “There’s been a lot of rumours. I’m not going and am just going to play on the PGA Tour. So, I’m happy with where I’m at and, yeah, I’m looking forward to next year.” @trackingminwoo (Via:
Although Lee denied the reports around his speculated move to the Saudi PIF-backed golf league, it created a stir among fans on social media. Soon after this post was shared on X, users started to share their takes regarding the Aussie golfer in the comments. A section of them ended up throwing shade at Min Woo Lee.
"LIV doesn't need this idiot", an X-user commented below.@NUCLRGOLF @trackingminwoo LIV doesn't need this idiot
@NUCLRGOLF @trackingminwoo To be fair, every player that’s gone to LIV has said this exact thing with released statements 😂
Apart from shutting down the reports regarding his shift, Lee also talked about one of his fellow Aussie pros, one joined the breakaway tour in 2022.
"Hope he can find a stride" - Min Woo Lee shares honest take on ex-PGA Tour pro amidst debunking LIV Golf rumours
In his statement, Lee also revealed how he wants more from Cameron Smith, now that 2026 LIV events will be played over 72 holes. Talking about the 2022 Open Champ, Min Woo Lee labeled his fellow countryman as "one of the best" golfers in the world. He said (as quoted by Sport Nation):
"Cam was one of the best players in the world before he went to LIV and I hope he can find a stride. Great golfers, over time, if there's more holes, they're probably going to come out on top."The three-time European Tour winner also stated how he is hopeful regarding Smith's improvement in the majors. Lee said:
"Hopefully we can see some good golf out of him. We have a practice round every time at the Masters and the majors so I hope for the best for him."It's worth noting that Smith, who happens to be a former World Number 2, showcased some shocking results this year. The three-time Australian PGA Champ was the only pro to miss the ticket to the weekend in all four major championships in 2025.
