LeBron James Didn’t Hesitate to Show Grand Gesture to Kiyan Anthony as Syracuse Star Reveals Special Relationship With ‘Unc’

Carmelo Anthony's son, Kiyan Anthony, has been one of the bright spots in Syracuse. The 6-foot-5 guard has slowly proven that he's got star quality. On Tuesday, the latest episode of Complex's "Sneaker Shopping" was posted on YouTube, with the young basketball star.

During the episode, Anthony revealed that he has a special relationship with LA Lakers star LeBron James. Anthony's father and James were drafted in the same year (2003) and are close friends off the court. The Syracuse star talked about how he reached out to the four-time champion for a pair of shoes, which he received almost immediately.

“I think the Bron 20s came out like two months, I still didn’t have a pair. They were sold out everywhere,” Anthony said (Timestamp: 2:52). “So I just texted him myself. That was the first time I think I DM’d him… He responded right away, sent him my address. [The] next day, there were pairs there. “There was like four or five pairs, different colorways. I just texted him, I said ‘Thank you.’

The host, Joe La Puma, jokingly asked if Anthony called James "unc" when he reached out to the star. The 18-year-old basketball star confirmed that he did.

“Yeah, I said. ‘Hey unc, I need shoes’.”

Kiyan Anthony was lucky that his father is close friends with the four-time MVP. This allowed him to get the latest signature shoe and not miss out on the trend.

Most basketball players are knowledgeable when it comes to sneakers. Some of them even keep a collection, just like NBA veteran PJ Tucker. However, some people are more into the sneaker world than athletes.

Kiyan Anthony revealed that his mother, La La Anthony, is arguably the biggest sneaker head in their family. She was also interviewed by La Puma five years ago about her sneaker stories. The son of the celebrity couple confirmed that La La takes her sneaker collection seriously.

The young basketball star said that La La recently moved to a new house. One of her priorities was a floor dedicated to her shoes.

“Her main thing was like, ‘Yo, I need a whole floor for shoes.’ You go to the basement, it’s a whole floor full of shoes,” Anthony said. “I think she might have more shoes than my dad, which is crazy.”

Kiyan Anthony said that his mother knows where to get the shoes that she wants. Also, the young star said that his mother doesn't stop until she gets the pair she's been looking for.
