The Buffalo Bills made the massive decision to move on from head coach Sean McDermott after nine seasons at the helm. This comes off the heels of yet another loss in the postseason, but not to the high-and-mighty Kansas City Chiefs, but to another AFC West team - the Denver Broncos and Bo Nix, who had never won a playoff game before Saturday.
With Josh Allen turning 30 this summer, the pressure only continues to grow to win while the MVP quarterback is still playing at this level. With this in mind, Ryan Guthrie of PFSN predicts that the Bills will sign Dallas Cowboys star receiver George Pickens.
"The Bills’ window is now. After firing Sean McDermott, general manager Brandon Beane has no excuses left," Guthrie writes. "Josh Allen needs a true alpha target, and Pickens is the best one available. George Pickens is a nightmare underneath and one of the league’s premier contested-catch and vertical threats. He finished in the top three in the PFSN NFL WR Impact Metric and proved what he can do with competent quarterback play. This move screams urgency."
Beane has done a less than superb job, to say the least, of getting Allen a star receiver since trading Stefon Diggs in April of 2024. These are the receivers that have been on the Bills' roster since trading Diggs:
- Mack Hollins
- Curtis Samuel
- Keon Coleman
- Kaden Prather
- Chase Claypool
- Marquez Valdes-Scantling
- Amari Cooper
- Joshua Palmer
- Elijah Moore
- Tyrell Shavers
- Gabe Davis
- Mecole Hardman
- Brandin Cooks
Pickens is set to be a free agent, assuming the Cowboys don't franchise tag him. Should be be available, the Bills need to go all in on him.
