Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo linked to blockbuster trade to Warriors

The chances of the Golden State Warriors landing Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo likely skyrocketed with Jimmy Butler’s latest injury news.

Essentially, with Butler’s 2025-26 season prematurely ending due to a devastating ACL injury, the Warriors may feel compelled to go all-in on Antetokounmpo to salvage their mediocre season.

ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel has a hunch that the Dubs will do everything in their power to add Antetokounmpo to their roster before the Feb. 5 deadline.

“It seems like a broken record saying that the Warriors have been targeting Giannis Antetokounmpo for the last decade, but if there is any time for them to sacrifice all of their future assets for him, it's right now with Jimmy Butler's injury,” Siegel wrote on X/Twitter Tuesday. “This may be their only chance.”

The only problem is, Antetokounmpo will only land on this year’s trade market if he, like Jonathan Kuminga, informs his respective franchise that he wants a fresh start.

As of Jan. 20, 2026, Antetokounmpo hasn’t requested a trade from the Bucks, making a potential trade for the NBA champion forward more of a fantasy than a reality.

Still, the Warriors shouldn’t lose hope just yet, considering that Antetokounmpo’s situation in Milwaukee could quickly worsen.

If not, Mike Dunleavy Jr. and the Warriors will be forced to end their pursuit of the 31-year-old and pivot to other trade targets.
