Celtics legend Rajon Rondo's 8th-grade son Pierre had a massive game to upset No. 1 team in Kentucky

Pierre Rondo is an eighth-grader playing varsity basketball for a quality North Oldham program in Kentucky, which is impressive enough.

But the son of Boston Celtics legend Rajon Rondo hasn't stopped there. He's also performed exceptionally well all season long.

That was no more true than Tuesday night, when a top-25 in the state North Oldham upset the No. 1 team in the state, St. Xavier.

Rondo went for 17 points on 7-for-11 shooting from the field.

He added nine assists, four rebounds and three steals.

"He was an absolute problem," wrote local radio host T.J. Walker on X.

The final score was 72-69, with the point guard genes in Rondo allowing him to excel in a close game on a big stage.

There's a long way to go before Pierre Rondo has to choose a college, let alone see if he's good enough to play in the NBA.

But for right now, it's clear he's got a lot of the basketball genes his dad had.
