The Baltimore Ravens may be entering a new era on offense, and quarterback Lamar Jackson sounds more excited than ever about what lies ahead.
Following the conclusion of Baltimore’s mandatory minicamp on Wednesday, Jackson praised first-year offensive coordinator Declan Doyle and expressed confidence that the Ravens’ offense will be one of the most explosive units in the NFL this season.
“I feel like there’s going to be a lot of explosiveness this year,” Jackson said. “The way Declan calls plays and his creativity with his mind — how detailed he is — it’s mind-blowing.”
Doyle, who was hired this offseason and became one of the youngest play-callers in the league, has spent the spring implementing a new offensive system designed around Jackson’s unique skill set. According to ESPN, Jackson has attended more voluntary workouts than usual as he works to learn the new terminology and build chemistry with his coordinator.
The two-time NFL MVP believes Doyle’s attention to detail will make Baltimore more unpredictable and difficult for opposing defenses to prepare for.
Ravens look to rebound under new offensive coordinator
“I want to be detailed as well and keep the defense honest,” Jackson told reporters. “When we’re doing the little things right, the defense doesn’t know what we’re capable of on any given play.”
Despite an injury-plagued 2025 season that saw him miss four games, Jackson remains one of the NFL’s premier quarterbacks. Last season, he threw for 2,549 yards and 21 touchdowns while continuing to add to his legacy as the league’s all-time leading rushing quarterback.
The Ravens are hoping Doyle can help reignite an offense that experienced a decline in production last season. According to ESPN, Baltimore finished 16th in total offense and 11th in scoring after ranking among the league’s elite units in previous years.
With Jackson healthy, a revamped coaching staff in place, and a fresh offensive approach taking shape, expectations are once again high in Baltimore. If Jackson’s early reviews are any indication, Ravens fans could be in for an exciting season filled with big plays and a rejuvenated offense.
