Lakers trade idea reunites with player they moved in Luka Doncic trade for Bronny James and more

The Los Angeles Lakers will have to hope they can get creative with a move or two in the next few weeks. The Lakers don't have a ton of assets, but if they can package everything they have, they might be able to get a decent player in return.

There have been some comments that the Lakers may be interested in P.J. Washington. The Lakers would have to give up a whole lot to get Washington and would probably need a third team involved. A recent trade idea would help them do just that.

Lakers would receive: P.J. Washington, Max Christie

Cavaliers would receive: Bronny James (via TMLE)

Mavericks would receive: Jarred Vanderbilt, Jake LaRavia, Dalton Knecht, 2023 second-round pick (via SAC)

“The trade would allow the Lakers to reunite with Max Christie, a player who flashed a lot of potential before being moved to the Dallas Mavericks as part of the Dončić trade. Furthermore, the move would reunite Dončić with P.J. Washington — who played a key role in helping the Mavericks reach the 2024 NBA Finals,” Sai Mohan wrote.

The Lakers really wouldn't be moving a whole lot here, unless people view Jake LaRavia and Bronny James as decent pieces. Dalton Knecht isn't great, Jarred Vanderbilt doesn't have much of an offensive game, and it's not like there are a slew of picks going around.

If that's how it could play out, however, this would be a great trade for Los Angeles.
