OG Anunoby had a big game in the New York Knicks’ 119-111 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday as he keeps growing offensively.
Anunoby registered a 24-point, 14-rebound double-double in the win, knocking down four three pointers and shooting 9-17 from the field. Anunoby also racked up three steals and one block on the defensive side of the ball.
Anunoby comments on his offensive growth
After the game, Anunoby spoke with reporters about his growth in new head coach Mike Brown’s offense.
“The game will tell you what to do,” Anunoby said. “Each game will be different, but as we get more and more comfortable, it'll get better and better.”
Last season, Anunoby started to hit another level offensively, averaging 21.2 points per game after the All-Star break, and keeping the Knicks afloat in the aftermath of Jalen Brunson’s ankle injury. On the season, he averaged a career-best 18.0 points per game, turning into a true star two-way wing in his first full season with the Knicks. So far, it seems as though Anunoby has picked up where he left off even if it’s only been one game.
Anunoby will have another chance to build off of his big performance against the Cavaliers when the Knicks play host to the Boston Celtics on Friday in a playoff rematch.
