Team India star KL Rahul's celebrations have often grabbed a lot of limelight. The 33-year-old recently ranked some of his celebrations, and interestingly, his homage to the Kannada blockbuster 'Kantara' was not at No. 1.
Rahul's 'dab' celebration took the No. 5 spot in his rankings. His two-finger gesture after his century in India's Test series opener against the West Indies earlier this year was at No. 4.
The ace batter placed his 'shut the noise' celebration at No. 3, while the viral Kantara celebration occupied the second place. He ranked his century celebration against Pakistan during the 2023 Asia Cup as No. 1.
Rahul remained unbeaten on 111 off 106 balls against the Men in Green in the Super Fours. After crossing the 100-run mark, he raised his bat in the air while looking towards the sky.
The wicketkeeper-batter ranked his celebrations during his appearance on the YouTube channel, '2 Sloggers'. During the video, he also disclosed the reason behind his 'Kantara' celebration.
The celebration came after the Delhi Capitals (DC) batter's match-winning 93*-run knock off 53 balls against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in IPL 2025. Speaking about the gesture, he said:
At 20: 35, "This was not planned. The other celebrations were planned. Many things were going on in my life off the field. So, this was one of those moments where I lost control of my emotions. It was in Bangalore, and this was the year, it was in my mind, and there was a build-up on social media that I will go back to Bangalore, and I didn't, for whatever reason. So, I felt that I needed to make some statement."Rahul also revealed that he received a call from Rishabh Shetty, the lead actor of Kantara, after the game. He added:
"Rishabh Shetty also called me after that celebration."Meanwhile, KL Rahul was last seen in action during India's recently concluded three-match ODI series against Australia. The hosts Australia won the series 2-1. Rahul scored 49 runs across two innings.
"That wasn't a whistle" - KL Rahul reveals actual reason behind his two-finger celebration in IND vs WI 2025 Test series
KL Rahul clarified that he wasn't whistling when he performed a two-finger celebration in the Test series opener against West Indies in Ahmedabad. He disclosed that it was a tribute to his daughter Evaarah.
He said in the same video:
At 1:07, "Arrey woh whistle nahi tha (That wasn't a whistle). My baby does this. Evaarah, you know, babies suck their thumbs, some suck their index. Evaarah sucks her fingers like that. So it was for my daughter. Why would I whistle? Maine 100 banya, khud pe whistle maar raha hoon? (I score a hundred, why would I whistle at myself?)."KL Rahul is not part of India's squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against Australia. The opening game will be played in Canberra on Wednesday, October 29.
