Seattle Mariners star Julio Rodriguez, signed to a base contract of 12-year $209 million, on Saturday attended the NHL's Seattle Kraken's game against the Edmonton Oilers at the Climate Pledge Arena. The Mariners recently suffered a heartbreaking Game 7 loss last Sunday against the Toronto Blue Jays in the American League Championship Series.

On Saturday, J-Rod, alongside other Mariners players, including Ryan Bliss and Logan Evans, made an appearance. The city's WNBA representatives, Seattle Storm players, were also present. When the Jumbotron showed Julio Rodriguez, he got a rousing ovation from the crowd.

However, fans on social media noticed the mellowed-down look on the center fielder's face. The wounds of the painful defeat are still fresh for the 24-year-old

"He needs a hug," a fan said.

Julio Rodriguez was the final out in the top of the ninth inning in the Mariners lineup. He had worked himself to a full count against Blue Jays closer Jeff Hoffman before he swung his bat on an 88 mph slider that was well outside the strike zone.

The Blue Jays came from a 3-1 deficit on the back of a three-run home run from George Springer in the bottom of the seventh inning to win the game. The Mariners, as a result, remained the only franchise in the MLB to remain without a World Series appearance.

Julio Rodriguez drafts heartfelt message summing successful Mariners campaign

Julio Rodriguez took to Instagram on Friday to thank the Seattle Mariners faithful for supporting the team through their journey this season. He pledged to take the team to newer heights in 2026.

"A lot of things to be proud of, and a lot of things to work for," he wrote. "M’s Fam, you truly are the best in the game. Thank you for all the support throughout this whole year, your boyz will be back."

The Dominican had a strong individual season, hitting .267 with 95 RBIs and 32 home runs. He also managed 31 stolen bases, giving him his second 30-30 season. Rodriguez also hit 4 postseason home runs in 12 games.
